THE MUNSTER HOUSE
The plan is to build a Halloween village with some well known House and creatures all made with
Super sculpey clay. The first thing I did was make a paper house using index cards and tape. I
collected a few pictures of the Munster house from the internet. I want it look like the Munster
house but If I like the way some thing is going I will keep going that way. Above you can see the
base with some pieces of index card tape to it. Thats the way I make my templates which I will
use to make 1/8" walls out of clay.
Here we have more pictures of cut outs tape on the base. The nice thing about using paper is if
you make a mistake just throw it away. The seam don`t really look that great now but I will be
covering them once all the walls are up. I will add another layer on clay over them so I can add
details like window, doors, & bricks.
This is the base which will grow some before I`m done. Now its about 11" wide 7" high & 8 1/2"
deep. I plan on building trees and tomb stone around the house so it will get bigger. The ground
will be about a 1/4 " thick. I`m also going to added the Munster theme song and leds.
Here is the clay cut outs and the base on my tile that I will be putting in the oven for 15 minutes
at 275 degrees. Just like baking cookie. In the picture on the right you can see I added more
ground, build out the porch, & started to add the roof.
Here I added the porch roof and second foor window.
Some pictures of the roof. I use the clay like glue to hold the pieces together.
I added more to the second floor
More roof pictures. I layed the flat piece to the roof on for the picture. I will be removeing a
piece of the bottom so I can added some leds to different room later.
Sorry the picture are so dark. The house is broken up into three different areas so I can light
then up using different colors and have some blinking.
I started detailing some of the front. As you can see its not perfect but this is my first one. I
think after doing more the lines will be better,
The window doesn`t look centered but I have to add the second floor porch on the right side. I
think painting it will take time.
I added the roof to the sides of the house. Next I`ll added more windows and the upper porch on
the right.
I added the siding and the supports for the roof on the right side of the house. I made the
supports by cutting strips of clay and heating them before I applied them to the porch. I did the
same thing with the fence around the upper porch.
I still have a lot of work to do on the back but I`m getting there. I did not close up the roofs yet
because I still have to make a door in the bottom so I can install the leds.
Here a nice view of the house and on the right is some details I`m going to add to the peaks of
the roofs. I`ll just drille two small holes add crazy glue them in place.
I added the roof in the center and I also cut out all the windows in the front.
The picture on the left is the back of the house. I did go crazy with it because its the back. On
the right is a side window which I didn`t cut out. I`ll paint it later.
I plan on making some trees that will be part of the house base.
The trees are the last thing I`m going to add now. The next step is painting which I have to look
into what colors and type of paint. The lights will be installed after painting.
I did add a few stones on the front lawn. I think after I paint them they sould look better. I`ll
post the paint job when its done. Thank for stopping by Frank
